Pregnancy and childhood bring significant physical changes. At Spinal Care of Nevada, we provide gentle, individualized chiropractic care for pregnant patients and children when a musculoskeletal evaluation and chiropractic care are appropriate.
Dr. Devin Luzod has completed additional postgraduate training in pediatric chiropractic, including a 120-hour pediatric chiropractic program. Our approach is conservative, age-appropriate and tailored to the individual patient.
As pregnancy progresses, changes in body weight, posture and joint loading can place additional stress on the lower back, pelvis and surrounding muscles and joints.
Pregnant patients may seek chiropractic care for musculoskeletal concerns such as back pain, pelvic or hip discomfort, or changes in mobility. We evaluate each patient individually and modify positioning and techniques for comfort and stage of pregnancy.
Our goal is straightforward: help improve comfort and musculoskeletal function while working within the appropriate role of chiropractic care. When a concern falls outside that role, we encourage coordination with the patient’s obstetric or medical provider.
Children are not simply treated like smaller adults. When parents bring a child to our office, we begin with an age-appropriate history and examination and determine whether there is a musculoskeletal reason for chiropractic care.
When care is appropriate, techniques are modified for the child’s age, size and needs and use gentle, low-force approaches.
Dr. Luzod’s additional pediatric chiropractic training provides experience in evaluating and caring for younger patients while recognizing when referral to a pediatrician or other medical provider is appropriate.
We do not assume that every childhood symptom or pregnancy-related concern is caused by the spine. Chiropractic care does not replace pediatric or obstetric medical care.
Our role is to evaluate the musculoskeletal system, explain what we find and provide conservative chiropractic care when appropriate.
Your first visit begins with a discussion of the reason for the visit, relevant health history and an appropriate examination. We explain our findings and recommendations before beginning care.
Depending on age and clinical findings, care may include gentle manual or instrument-assisted techniques and recommendations for movement, posture or home support. X-rays are used only when clinically appropriate and are not routine for every patient.
No. Pediatric care is modified for the child’s age, size and clinical needs and uses age-appropriate, low-force techniques.
Pregnant patients can be evaluated for musculoskeletal complaints, with positioning and techniques modified for comfort and stage of pregnancy. Care should complement, not replace, appropriate prenatal medical care.
Yes. When symptoms require medical evaluation or fall outside the appropriate role of chiropractic care, we encourage referral or coordination with the patient’s medical provider.
