Las Vegas Chiropractic Treatments and Laser Therapy for CTS & Nerve Pain
Whether the diagnosis is Carpal Tunnel, Sciatica, or a number of similar conditions, radiating pain in the extremities has a definite cause and safe solution. NUCCA offers relief of Carpal Tunnel, Sciatica, Arm Pain, Leg Pain, Pinched Nerves, Disc Compression, Nerve Cord Compression and Spinal Stenosis.
The Brainstem and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome (Nerve Pain)
Is it difficult to grasp a jar, bottle, or cup? Have you lost the strength to twist open a large jar? Do you have tingling or numbness in your arm, hand, wrist, fingers or legs? Or, does your leg just plain hurt, but only in some positions? If you have some or all of these symptoms, you may pressure on a nerve or carpal tunnel syndrome.
The brainstem is the structure connecting the brain and spinal cord, it's the “power box” of the body controlling many of the nerves that ultimately reach the arms, hands and even down to the legs. The top few bones in the neck surround and protect this area, and it's been researched that after a lifetime of wear and tear, or perhaps a major accident these bones can misalign, choking on the brainstem. This choking leads to the pain we associate with carpal tunnel syndrome or other nerve disorders.
For example, the brainstem sends a group of nerves out the lower part of the neck vertebrae, which supply the hand with strength and sensation. Another group of nerves reaches the upper arm, mid arm, etc. Often when people feel pain in these areas, they go to the site of pain to solve the problem, even though the cause of the nerve pain may be higher up in the neck! A surgeon may suggest cutting the ligaments of the wrist, a physical therapist would stretch that area, but both may be missing the true cause. Doesn't it make sense that if the nerve is being choked by a misaligned vertebrae, that it could send a pain signal to the opposite end? It's a little like when someone is watering their garden, and they discover a kink in the hose. The problem isn't where the water should come out, it's higher up where the kink is.
From neck to wrist, and spine to leg, there are many possible locations for "double crush". What does that mean? If there is irritation of a nerve root at the vertebra (or bones) of the neck, or at the triangle formed between the scalene muscles and the first rib the nerve itself becomes "sick". As that nerve passes into the arm, it passes through several muscles before it enters the hand, beneath the transverse carpal ligament. If the nerve is already sick, the "secondary stress" of compression within the arm muscles, or at the wrist or hip, may cause "regional" symptoms at that location. We call that second insult to the nerve a "double crush" syndrome.
Chiropractic Research
In one study titled Chiropractic treatment in Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, in the medical text, Journal of Manipulative Physiological Therapy 1994 (May);17 (4): 246–249, chiropractic made a demonstrable difference through objective and subjective outcomes. The solution is the NUCCA Spinal Correction. This is a safe and gentle procedure that seeks to accurately realign the head and neck, so that the spinal column as a whole can restore balance. Further benefits include relief of carpal tunnel syndrome pain, nerve pressure, muscle pain, circulation increase, relaxation and an increase in the overall quality of life.

NUCCA and Carpal Tunnel Syndrome
NUCCA is a unique, non-manipulative form of chiropractic. It's a more modern approach, involving fewer return visits than traditional forms of care. A visit to a NUCCA Doctor always begins with a consultation and exam, to confirm the patient is a candidate for care, otherwise a referral will be provided. For more information on the NUCCA Spinal Correction, or Dr. Devin Luzod and Spinal Care of Nevada, please contact our office.
